Being born is one of the most stressful events a person can go through. Most infants experience misalignments during the birth process due to pressure on their neck and spine. That’s why we recommend parents bring their newborn into Innate Family Chiropractic as soon as possible after giving birth.
Even in a natural birth where there’s little to no intervention, and everything went smoothly, a baby goes through a lot. After exiting the birth canal, they need to learn a host of new things: breathing air, eating food, seeing light, and hearing sounds that aren’t muffled.
Issues We See in Newborns
Given that most babies enter the world with a misalignment, we often see many issues. These include
- Digestive distress
- Rotational issues (e.g. the inability to rotate their neck well)
- Colic
- Breastfeeding issues (not nursing on either side)
- Sleep issues
- Ear infections
We Don’t Guess, We Test!
We take any guesswork out of the equation when working with little ones, by using the latest technology to determine your child’s nervous system function. We use a safe thermal scan using INSiGHT™ technology. This scan looks at temperature differences within a baby’s spinal column and nervous system, and can tell us where there may be inflammation within the system. Rest assured, this scan is safe and non-invasive.
Gentle Adjustments
Once we determine where the issue is, we gently correct it. Our chiropractors adjust babies differently from older kids and adults. Very little pressure is used to adjust an infant. It’s the same amount applied when you take your pinky and gently press it on the eyeball.
